Judging panel named for Tannery of the Year

21/03/2013
World Trades Publishing, organiser of the Tannery of the Year Awards, has confirmed the names of the judges for the competition’s third programme.

The final will take place in Hong Kong on Monday, March 25, with each of nine finalist tanneries making a presentation to the judges to supplement the information in the detailed reports on each company that World Leather has published in the course of the competition. The judges will use the information from the reports and from the presentations on the day to choose regional winners for Africa, the Americas, Asia excluding China, China itself and Europe, before deciding which regional winner will be the third global Tannery of the Year.

All of the decisions will be made on the day and the identity of the winners will only be revealed at an exciting awards event and gala dinner that same evening.

Judges for the 2013 final will be Dr Patricia Casey, representing the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies, Kim Reid, head of leadership and talent at British Airways, Paul Pearson, representing the International Council of Tanners, and Ivan Král, representing the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation.

On announcing the make-up of the panel, World Trades Publishing chief executive, Simon Yarwood, thanked the judges for giving their time and expertise freely to support Tannery of the Year.

A few places are still available to attend the Gala Dinner on March 25, which starts in the Bauhinia Suite in the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre at 19.30 with a champagne reception, followed by a gourmet four-course dinner with fine wine. Everyone in the industry is welcome to attend, but places are limited. Details and booking information are available at this link: Tannery of the Year 2013 Gala Dinner.
