The organisers of the Fimec exhibition in Novo Hamburgo in southern Brazil have said the 2013 edition of the event, which closed on March 15, attracted almost 40,000 visitors. There were 600 exhibitors, including tanners, machinery and chemical manufacturers.

President of organising body Fenac, Elivir Desiam, said the 2013 exhibition showed that Fimec was becoming more and more international. He said exhibitors had closed, or come close to doing so, high volumes of business with clients from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay. “Most important of all was that Fimec showed once again that it is an event that brings together representatives of every part of the leather and footwear supply chain.”

The president of Brazil’s leather technologsits and chemists society, ABQTIC, Etevaldo Zilli, agreed that the 2013 had been a success but said his organisation wanted to work with the organisers to attract more tanners to future editions.
