Dutch leather chemicals manufacturer Smit & Zoon was named as Company of the Year by the town of Weesp, near Amsterdam, where it has its headquarters.

Every year, the authorities in Weesp nominate one local company for the honour, focusing on its reputation as a good employer, its financial stability and ability to provide continuity, and its commitment to innovation and ability to adapt to a changing environment.

Chief executive, Marc Smit, accepted the award at a special ceremony and said that Smit & Zoon looked on the award as recognition of its long-term focus on being a preferred partner for the global leather industry.
