CLE to build new laboratory at Ranipet leather cluster

India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has announced a new plan to build a leather testing laboratory at the leather cluster at Ranipet, near Vellore in Tamil Nadu in the south of the country.

The project has won central government funding under a programme called ASIDE (Assistance to States for Infrastructure Development and Exports). The cost of the new laboratory is likely to be in excess of $1 million.

CLE is currently vetting technical and financials proposals to appoint a contractor for the supply and installation of machinery and equipment for physical and chemical testing.
