Exhibitors at Le Cuir a Paris up 17%

20/09/2012
Some of the world’s top leather buyers, designers and tanners have congregated in the French capital for Le Cuir a Paris, where the number of exhibitors is up 17% on this time last year.

The event showcases finishes and processes from fashion-focused tanners and processors, as well as predicting trends for winter 13/14.

Organisers said the new layout, conceived by a set designer from Brazil, was “more personalised and more elegant”. They said the usages of leather were so varied and fast changing that they “wanted a design for the displays that reflected that”.

Out of 413 exhibitors, 40 are new and 23 have returned after an absence, with 27 countries represented. Finished leather companies make up 55%, textiles and synthetics 10% and exotic leathers 9%. Leather garments groups, raw hides companies and chemical firms are also represented.

The three-day fair, part of the Premiere Vision textile event, concludes tomorrow.
