Brazilian delegation will check the situation in Paraguay post-FMD

22/08/2012
Representatives of Brazil’s ministry of agriculture will visit areas in neighbouring Paraguay that were affected by two recent outbreaks of foot and mouth disease (FMD).

Animal health authorities confirmed cases of FMD in Paraguay in September 2011 and in January 2012. Recently, restrictions on the country’s exports of hides and beef have begun to ease. A delegation from Brazil will visit the San Pedro department, close to the Brazilian border, in October with a view to opening up trade in these areas again.
