Exports up 30% at Zamleather
Zambia-based leather producer Zamleather posted a 30%
increase in exports during the six-month period ended March 31. Exports for the
half-year period totalled 4.3 billion kwacha ($881,147).
The company exported wet blue leather to Europe, India, China
and South Africa and finished leather and leathergoods to Zimbabwe.
Zamleather, a subsidiary of Zambeef Products group, is the largest tannery in
the country. It plans to increase hide processing from the current 8,000 per
month to 10,000 per month to meet increasing demand.
