Bangladesh: government will help tanneries move to new site

The government in Bangladesh has announced its budget for 2012-2013. In a speec on June 7, finance minister, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, said that in a bid to develop a dynamic private sector and to expand the industrial sector, the government is providing special incentives in the form of duty and tax relief and cash support for a number of industries, including leather.

There will be specific tax concessions and credits to help companies move to the new tanning site at Savar, 30 kilometres to the west of the capital, Dhaka.
