Marfrig to reopen three abattoirs

The three abattoirs are in Pirenópolis in the state of Goiás, Porto Mortinho in Mato Grosso do Sul, and Tucumã in Pará.
In the first quarter of 2012, Marfrig processed 522,100 head of cattle for slaughter, which represents 65% of its total capacity. The three reopened facilities will add 3,150 head per day to this number at full capacity. The company still has five abattoirs that are out of operation and it has said that three of these are unlikely to reopen because of their small capacity.
