Profits up by almost 30% among Chinese tanners

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has announced that profit in China leather sector in 2011 reached $9.3 billion. Based only on the figures registered for the year by large-scale enterprises in the leather sector, the CLIA said profit levels had risen by 29.3%.

In terms of regions, Fujian Province had a 26.5% shares of total profits, followed by Henan Province with a 14.3% share, Hebei Province with 12.9% and Guangdong Province with 12.5%.

CLIA commented that growth in inland areas of China was much greater than in the more developed coastal areas of the country. Profits among large-scale tanners in Sichuan Province, for example, increased by 95.6% compared to the figure for that province in 2010.
