Canadian leathergoods brand Danier Leather has reported a narrower loss in its fiscal 2012 first-quarter despite a more than $1-million decrease in revenue.

The Toronto-based firm said it lost $2.8 million in the 13 weeks ended 24 September, 2011. That compared with a net loss of $2.9 million in the same year-earlier period.

Revenue for the 13 weeks ended 24 September was $22.1 million, down from $23.4 million as the number of stores operated by the company fell to 89 from 90, although comparable-store sales also decreased by 6%, the company said in a news release.
