Ettinger commits to UK manufacture and online sales

In an interview with a website devoted to luxury products, Mr Ettinger, grandson of the company’s founder, said many high-end consumers are reacting against the trend of outsourcing the manufacture of many consumer products to companies in the Far East. He said intimacy and a personal touch are an important part of the high-end leathergoods market, and that his company believes its commitment to continuing domestic manufacture of products helps offer this.
However, he said online sales were helping Ettinger reach markets in which it has never had a bricks-and-mortar retail presence and that, within five years, half of the company’s turnover could come from online sales.
