Specialist automotive leather supplier Eagle Ottawa has announced the death of Anders Segerdahl.

Mr Segerdahl served most recently as chairman of the board of Eagle Ottawa’s parent company,
Everett Smith Group. He joined another of the tanning companies in the group, Albert Trostel & Sons, in 1948 and took over the management of Eagle Ottawa in 1969. He retired as president of the group in May 2006, but stayed on as chairman. He was also president of the International Council of Tanners from 1997 to 1999.

On announcing the news, Eagle Ottawa said Anders Segerdahl had been known throughout the industry as a “pragmatic visionary” who had led the company to the forefront of the automotive leather market.

Current Eagle Ottawa president and chief executive, Jerry Sumpter, said: “I worked closely with Andy over several years and appreciated his long-term vision, encouragement and support for our efforts to continue the success of Eagle Ottawa.”
