Uruguayan meat and meat product exports fell 26% in value between January 1 and October 10. Exports for the period totalled $896 million compared with $1.2 billion during the same period last year.

Beef accounted for 81% of total meat exports. Main export destinations for beef were Russia, the European Union (EU), NAFTA countries, Mercosur countries and Israel, which collectively accounted for 76% of the total.

In value, Uruguayan beef exports totalled $725 million during the period compared with $ 1 billion in the same period of 2008 (-28.3%).
