Visitor numbers up at Le Cuir A Paris

25/09/2009

The organisers of the Le Cuir A Paris exhibition have reported that a good business mood prevailed at the seventeenth edition of the event, which took place from September 15-18.

From the first day, "prestigious names from the fashion sector" came to the exhibition to examine the material on offer from tanneries for the autumn-winter 2010-11 season, Groupe SIC said.

In all, there were 336 exhibitors from 25 different countries showcasing their leather over a total surface of 10,000 square-metres. Amongst these, 43 exhibitors were taking part for the fist time.

Collectively, tanneries from Italy occupied the most space, taking up 44% of the total exhibiting area, followed
by France (20%) and Spain (11%). For the first time, tanneries from Mexico had a presence at Le Cuir A Paris, with three companies (Interpiel Exotic, Novotech Exotic and industry organisation ANPIC).

Groupe SIC said it was pleased with visitor numbers, in the context of the international economic slowdown.
Over the four days of the show there were 13,412 visitors, 5% more than in September 2008. Visitor numbers from Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK were all higher.

Feedback from exhibitors suggested that these results exceeded their expectations.

"We have met our major clients, Italians and French, from the top quality sector but, the mid-range was
also present," said Marc Deyber from Tanneries HAAS, France. "The mood was right. We find that buyers are really concentrating on their core market since last season."
