Grants available again in Ghana

Ghana and the European Commission (EC) have launched a third phase of a scheme called the Cultural Initiatives Support Programme (CISP) which makes grants available to artists and artisans who incorporate aspects of Ghanaian culture into their work.

Speaking at the media launch in Accra on July 28, programme coordinator, Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng, said projects that have won approval in the early stages had helped reform the leather industry in northern regions of the African country by allowing artisans to add value to their work.

He said the programme had created substantial employment opportunities in the hinterland.
