LHTBI looks forward to 150th anniversary

28/05/2009
In late May, the UK’s Leather & Hide Trades’ Benevolent Institution (LHTBI) held its annual lunch and AGM at the Leathersellers’ Hall in London. As it approaches the 150th anniversary of its founding in 1860, the institution has appointed its first-ever female president, Jill Williams, the finance director of leather producer Pittards, who takes on the task of raising fresh funds for the charity in the coming year.

The challenge for 2009-10 is to exceed the achievements of outgoing president, Paul Patrick who, despite the current climate, was responsible for bringing in £8,000 ($12,742), to which a further £5,000 raised through the sponsorship of a remarkable Round Ireland cycle ride by Team Tusting, led by William Tusting, chairman of the LHTBI, was added.

The charity supports more than 80 individuals and couples, the oldest of whom is now 102.
