An increase in members in the northern and central regions of India has compensated for losses in other parts of the country to keep Council for Leather Exports (CLE) membership levels steady. In February this year, 3,474 companies made up CLE’s membership, a similar number to the total in February 2018.

There was a fall in membership of 1.3% in the southern region, giving a total now of 1,017 companies. The decline in the eastern region of India was almost 3.4%, leaving 658 companies. In the western region it was even steeper, falling by nearly 4.4% to 153 members.

However, membership grew by 4.2% in the northern region of India, reaching 909 companies, and by almost 1.4% in the central region to reach 737 members.
