Lanxess hosts successful third leather industry seminar

The third annual leather industry seminar, organised by leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess, came to a successful conclusion in Cologne on January 12.

On this occasion, the main theme of the presentations was what differentiates leather from substitute materials.

After a welcome from Luis López-Remón, head of the Lanxess leather business unit, speakers from the host company Dr Volke Rabe and Dr Martin Kleban gave presentations on the properties of leather, focusing on chemical and physical properties respectively. Their colleague, the event’s main organiser, Dr Deitrich Tegtmeyer, also gave one of the presentations, focusing on what ‘Tannery 4.0’ might look like.

Other presentations gave delegates updates on the impact on the leather industry of initiatives including ZDHC, Oeko-Tex and Leather Naturally.
