Geely completes delivery of luxury sedans for China’s diplomatic fleet
A Chinese government initiative to ‘buy Chinese’ wherever possible, which began in 2012, led to the country’s Minsitry of Foreign Affairs choosing Zhejiang-based automotive group Geely Auto as the supplier of high-end sedan cars for its diplomatic fleet.

At a special ceremony in Beijing on September 7, Geely completed the delivery of 50 new vehicles for use in state visits and to collect diplomats and other dignitaries during official visits to China. The ambassadors in Beijing of a number of countries, including Uruguay and Estonia, have also taken possession of one of the Geely sedans, the GC9 model. The colour of choice, naturally, is black.

Geely describes the GC9, which is known in international markets as the Emgrand GT, as its flagship sedan and says the overall design “combines global aesthetics with Chinese cultural and historical elements giving the vehicle an elegant and dynamic feel”.

At the ceremony in Beijing, Geely chief executive, An Conghui, said the company intends to keep increasing the quality of its cars.
