Trade media in the US have reported that Klaussner Furniture is preparing to launch a new company called Comfort Design, offering chairs and sofas in high-end leather upholstery.

The North Carolina-based manufacturer is aiming to offer most of its products in the $1,500–$2,000 price bracket. Around 100 different leather upholstery options will be included in the range.

Comfort Design will be headed up by Phil Cooper, formerly senior vice-president of merchandising at Barcalounger. He said: “We want Comfort Design to be known for American-crafted products that are undeniably well-made, extremely fashionable and offer an exceptional value.”
