Tanzania’s minister for indutry and trade, Mary Nagu, has announced that her government has invited Italian business figures to increase their presence in the country, which she described as one of the strongest emerging economies in East Africa.
Opening a Tanzanian-Italian Business Forum in the biggest city, Dar es Salaam, on March 2, Ms Nagu said Tanzania was a peaceful country, which she claimed was a major attraction for investors, adding that priority was being given to investments and joint-ventures.
Adolfo Urso, the Italian ambassador in Tanzania, said Italian investors are willing to start to work with Tanzania, particularly in the leather and agri-business industries. He said the African country could offer raw materials and a wide availability of labour and suitable locations.
“For its part, Italy could offer entrepreneurship, marketing, know-how, and, particularly, the well-known resources of Italian workers in these fields, creativity, fantasy and speed of project realisation,” he added.
