According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), the country’s travel goods, luggage and bag exports totalled $13.9 billion in 2008, up 28% year-on-year. Imports of these items rose 54% to $540 million.

Meanwhile, the production of luggage and bags rose 16% to $11.2 billion. However, the growth rate fell 12.4%.
