Avery Dennison gives jeans a luxury feel
Manufacturers of high-end jeans can now add an extra touch in the form of new distressed patent leather patches from Avery Dennison.
The patches are available debossed, milled, hand-burnished, crinkled or hand-sanded to provide a distressed appearance. Graphics can be applied in several ways, including foil and inking options and the patches are available in a variety of styles, leather materials, colour variations.
According to David Edens, the company’s global product manager for patches and specialty products, the new leather patches were developed in response to market demand for creative ways to brand upscale jeans. “There’s been a move to high-end jeans, especially in the women’s and juniors markets,” he says, “and manufacturers are searching for ways to differentiate their brands. At the same time, patent leather has undergone a resurgence in recent years, which presented Avery Dennison with a unique product development opportunity.
By processing patent leather in a variety of new ways, Avery Dennison now brings to market a fashionable line of distressed patent leather patches that complement the stylish denim of high-end jeans. It’s a way for brands to more prominently distinguish their garments as premium products and enjoy higher margins.”
