Greater international presence at Micam
Italian footwear manufacturers' association ANCI, which organises Micam ShoEvent, has high hopes for the upcoming edition of the show. Micam runs March 4-7 at the Milan-Rho trade fair complex.
Approximately 1,611 exhibitor companies will showcase new collections for autumn-winter 2009-10 at the event, including 572 firms from overseas.
“Again this year”, says ANCI president, Vito Artioli, "we have worked to offer visitors at Micam ShoEvent an even higher level of quality, which will see a greater international presence than the 2008 edition thanks to increasingly stronger scouting.
“We are aware that this will be a particularly significant edition, acting as a finger on the pulse of the sector and showing us how it is reacting to the economic crisis.”
He adds: “Compared to the same season last year, we will have practically the same number of exhibitors, minus just 50, to be ascribed more than anything to ANCI's desire to not let the event’s quality standard drop, something that is still our priority and strong point. Besides which, those missing are only small companies whose stands account for just 2% of the total occupied surface area. If we compare our situation with that of other international events in fashion and other manufacturing sectors, we can admit to being happy that we are one of the few who, in a very difficult economic situation, have managed to maintain their positions”.
