Clariant at ANPIC
30/01/2009
Specialist chemical company Clariant will be taking part in 'America's Fair', the 2009 edition of the ANPIC (National Association of Suppliers to the Footwear Industry), which will take place from February 19-22 in the Mexican city of León.
Under the motto: 'Upgrading to keep leather’s elegance', Clariant will show its collection based on leading-edge technology for leather upgrading, with up-to-date details of practical applications.
New specifications constantly require new adjustment and innovation, so new products, techniques and application systems will be presented for wet-end and finishing solutions.
Clariant has said that it will continue to use leading-edge technology to provide chemicals that meet today’s requirements for ecological, innovative and aesthetically pleasing leathers, while giving tanners maximum added value and process simplicity.
These innovations include chrome-free leather, using the company's pretanning system Granofin® F-60, which, Clariant claims, can offer "remarkable results in an even and tight grain, and excellent aesthetics and physical performances".
Another example is a new generation of soft polymer for the wet end, Tergotan PO-60, a retanning agent with significant softening properties. Then there are the new Derminol products for vegetable imitations on chrome-tanned leather resulting in quality material for shoe uppers and leathergoods.
Finishing techniques for upgrading using the Melio range of products (including special techniques using Melio Ground UP, a high-filling and sealing pre-base that maintains the natural aspect of the leather) will also be on show at ANPIC, as will a new development, especially for soft leathers for furniture or shoe uppers, in the shape of the new topcoat system based on Aqualen Top DC-2050.A (dull) and Aqualen Top GC-2051.A (gloss), or Aqualen Top LN.A (for patent leather imitation).
Three new fashionable shades of the well established Supronil HK-range will also be on display.
