New CEO for Ellington Leather

20/01/2009

Ellington Leather has announced that it has appointed Michael Edwards as its new chief executive.

Ellington
designs and produces leather handbags and accessories, which it sells under the Ellington and Elsapel brands.

The company, which was
bought by Chicago-based private equity firm UIB Capital in 2006, sells its leathergoods at its own store in Portland, Oregon, as well as through retailers such as Sundance, Smith & Hawken and Pendleton Woolen Mills.

Before this appointment, Mr Edwards helped expand the Portland-based activewear start-up Lucy from 10 to more than 60 stores across the US, before that company was bought by VF Corporation in 2007. Since August he has served as chairman of retailer Muttropolis based in Solana Beach, Calif. Mr Edwards also has served in senior roles with retailers JoAnn Stores, West Marine, Golfsmith, CompUSA, Target, and May Department stores.
