11/12/2008

Tanners from Pakistan have been stocking up on raw materials during the three-day Eid ul Adha festival, which ends today.

According to the Pakistan Tanners’ association (PTA), around 25-30% of their raw material requirements are met during this and similar festivals in the country. Estimates suggest tanners will obtain approximately five million pieces of raw hides and skins this year.

Skins prices have been fixed at between Rs200 ($2.5) and Rs300 while hides are fixed at between Rs1,200 and Rs,1,400. This is 5% below last year’s prices.
