Luxury leather job lures McCartney CEO
05/12/2008
The chief executive of the Stella McCartney brand, Marco Bizzarri, is moving to a new post within the Gucci Group. He will become the chief executive of Bottega Veneta, a brand best known for its luxury leathergoods.
The irony of this, given Ms McCartney's aversion to leather, may be the reason why the Gucci Group, and parent company PPR, have said very little about it. Their first formal announcement on the subject came in a December 1 press release when the group revealed that Frederick Lukoff would be taking over as Mr Bizzarri's successor in February.
The press release included quotes from Stella McCartney and from Robert Polet, chief executive of the Gucci Group, saying how delighted they were at Mr Lukoff's appointment, but said nothing about Marco Bizzarri's decision to concentrate on leather for the next part of his career.
