Italian leather sector feels the pinch

According to a report in Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Italian fashion sector and associated industries are really struggling as a result of the current turbulence in the world’s financial markets.
It reports that domestic sales of fashion items fell 4.4% in the first half, and there is little hope for improvement in the near future. Meanwhile, leather exports fell 3.6% in the first eight months of the year.
