Colomer joins forces with Henan Prosper

Spanish leather company Colomer y Munmany, owned by Gruppo Colomer, has joined forces with Chinese sheepskin manufacturer Henan Prosper.

The two firms have established a joint venture, which will involve an investment of €13.5 million ($17.1 million). One 20,000 m² factory will be located in Mengzhou, in the province of Henan, China, in which most of the production will take place. Another facility, measuring 2,500 m² will be based in Vic, Barcelona, and will specialise in producing small leather goods, mainly for the European market. This unit will also be responsible for research, development and innovation.

Both production units will be in action by the end of 2009 and total production capacity will be 15,000 skins per day.
