Colombia prepares for a difficult year
25/11/2008
The president of the board of Acicam, Colombia’s leather industry organisation, César Augusto Jaramillo, has said any extra sales of products in this space over the holiday period will fail to make up for poor results over the rest of 2008, and he said the industry was gearing up for next year to be “one of the most difficult of the decade” because of the global economic crisis.
Mr Jaramillo said: “It's true that sales have picked up a little in the last two months, but it's also a fact that the rest of this year has been disappointing. The economic slowdown is now having an effect on families’ budgets, which suggests that sales are going to be even more restricted next year.”
