Dr Marco Pintus, trade commissioner at the Italian embassy in Islamabad, visited Pakistan's leading and largest trade body, the Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), on November 20.

KCCI president, Mr Anjum Nisar, said that ample opportunities exist in Pakistan for trade, business and investment from Italy in sectors including leather.

Dr Pintud said that Italy and Pakistan have always enjoyed friendship and that there was considerable scope for economic cooperation between the two countries.

He paid tribute to Pakistani companies, including leathergoods manufacturers, that have already begun to make an impression on the Italian market by improving standards and production processes.
