Sharp drop in shoe exports

18/11/2008

According to information provided by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados), the volume of Brazilian footwear exports dropped by 6.1% in the period from January to October 2008 compared to the same period of 2007.

The value of these exports also fell, though by a smaller percentage owing to the increase in the average price of a pair of shoes. Accumulated figures for the current year show that revenue reached $1.6 billion, 0.6% down on the first ten months of last year.
