Trade talks good for leather
12/11/2008
Suppliers of leather and leathergoods in Bolivia have received positive news from a first formal round of trade talks between the Andean country and Venezuela.
The countries are separated by a large chunk of northwestern Brazil, but share a language and many other cultural aspects. In total the authorities in La Paz have said Bolovian companies, including several in the leather space, agreed $16.5 million of business as a result of the talks, which took place after the countries' presidents, Evo Morales and Hugo Chávez, signed a trade agreement on October 29.
Bolivia said the agreement with Venzuela presented its manufacturing companies with an alternative to the US market.
