Minister meets industry representatives

The government of Uruguay has begun a round of talks with representatives of the industry sectors it believes have been worst affected by the economic crisis so far, including the leather sector.

The minister for the economy, Alvaro García, held a meeting with leather industry representatives on November 10. One of the ideas that the government has put forward is that various ministries and government organisations take a more active role in finding overseas markets for Uruguayan goods to boost manufacturing.
