Technical session aims to lift Mexican sector

The leather industry in the Mexican state of Guanajuato is to host a technical session on November 12, the twenty-fourth edition of its national technical meeting for the tanning sector. It will take place in the School of Culture and Graphic Arts in the state capital, León.

The main aim on this occasion is to look at new techniques and processes for treating hides and the theme is 'New paths towards competitiveness’.

During six hours of presentations, there will be contributions from John Schoemans from Stahl, Ricardo Weiss from TFL,  from Leobardo
Valadez Luna from the University of León and from Armando Saldaña from the local leather industry’s centre of investigation and technical assessment. The organisers have said they have also invited representatives of the state government to speak too.

Daniel Tavares, president of the Association of Leather Chemists and Technicians of León and chairman of the event said  representatives of around 50 companies in the tanning sector would be present.
