Assomac reports positive Tanning Tech reaction

10/11/2008

According to the organisers of the Tanning Tech and Simac exhibitions, which took place in Bologna in the last week in October, Assomac (the National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leathergoods and Tannery Machines) visitors and exhibitors were all “pleasantly surprised by the positive atmosphere” at the two events.

The financial crisis and barrage of bad news that is casting such a gloomy shadow over the markets were put in the background over the three-days of the events, Assomac claimed. It said the crisis took a back seat to technology as visitors and exhibitors discussed future strategies and development.

Moving Simac from its spring slot, where it had to compete with a series of other fairs, proved successful although final figures on total numbers of visitors have still to come through.

“People are pulling their weight” said Amilcare Baccini, general secretary of the event. “Now we need some institutional help to invest in technology, which is essential to make any progress and essential for creating added value.”
