30/10/2008

The environment department in Tuscany is to invest €161 million in order to improve water purification processes in the region.

The project will be completed in 2015 and will ensure that two new purifiers—reportedly the largest in Italy—are installed; while 12 plants will have their systems improved and 47 small wastewater treatment plants will be decommissioned. Around 150km of sewage piping will be laid in total, ensuring that water received by more than 400,000 residents in Florence, Pisa and Pistoia are able to receive clean water.
