Italian leather exports fall
ISTAT figures show that the country’s total exports to all countries were higher in September. The only exception was China, with exports falling -7.3% year-on-year. Growth to the Mercosur countries presented the highest rise in September (+45%), while exports to other European countries rose 31.1%.
Exports for the January to September period were also higher in general, although exports to the US and Japan have fallen by 5.1% and 4.9%, respectively.
While major increases were seen for the refined petroleum products sector (+55.6%), among others, many sectors struggled. These include leather and leather products (-0.5%), furniture (-2.2%) and textiles and clothing (-0.6%).
