Bangladeshi leathergoods exports soar

According to the Export Promotion Bureau in Bangladesh, the country’s total leather exports rose 21.7% to $39.4 million in July from $32.4 million in July 2007.

The breakdown showed that its finished leather exports were worth $19.1 million in July compared with $20.5 million last July, a decline of 6.9%. However, leather footwear exports rose 75.6% to $18.6 million compared with $10.6 million and leather bags and purse exports rose 34.1% to $1.7 million.
