Leather seating prevents vandalism
Berlin-based Bombardier Transportation has received a Design at Work award from the Belgian Interior Foundation for its Flexity Outlook trams.
The award, designed to promote creative and contemporary design, was given to the company for its 32 metre long trams, which are said to be exceptional in terms of safety and energy consumption, among other things. The materials used were also given a special mention by the award jury, as the use of leather and wood for the seats has reportedly helped to significantly reduce vandalism since the tram model was introduced.
