Katzkin Leather expands LiquiCell usage

Custom leather interiors manufacturer Katzkin Leather, Inc. has teamed up with Minnesota-based LiquiCell Technologies in order to offer greater comfort.

LiquiCell Technologies has developed anatomically designed membranes that are carefully positioned underneath the leather seat covers. These membranes combine low-viscosity fluid and strategically-placed seal points to control the flow of liquid. The company claims drivers and passengers can notice a significant difference in comfort levels within a week. The technology is said to reduce and, in some cases eliminate, conditions such as muscle fatigue, numbness, fidgeting and tailburn.

The ‘comfort over time’ effect is achieved by equalising perpendicular pressure at the point of contact, reducing soft tissue compression which helps to reduce skin friction and soft tissue shear stress.

After piloting the product on its Toyota line of interiors, Katzkin has expanded its usage to include all of its 2,500+ patterns across a range of makes and models.

Founded in 1983, Katzkin offers interiors in more than 100 colours and materials. These can be ordered in single-tone factory match seats or in a variety of two-tones with additional options such as piping, perforation, contrast stitching and custom embroidery.
