Hope for new hides and skins deal
06/10/2008
A formal meeting of an India-Ethiopia joint trade commission took place on October 6. One of the expected outcomes was an agreement for the supply of skins and hides from Ethiopia for India’s leather manufacturing industry.
India and Ethiopia are also expected to sign a taxation avoidance agreement before the end of the year to ensure that companies operating in both countries only pay tax where they have a permanent base. India is aiming to become the largest overseas investor in Ethiopia and business leaders there believe the taxation agreement will help.
