Stahl extends Waalwijk leather centre
The extension to Netherlands-based Stahl’s Leather Technical Centre at its headquarters in Waalwijk, is now officially open. CEO, Huub van Beijeren, opened the extension, which involved an investment of €1 million, in the presence of various members of the automotive leather sector. Visitors attended the ceremony and then were offered the opportunity to wander around the laboratory to inspect new equipment and meet laboratory staff. A number of presentations and working demonstrations were given in the afternoon.
Originally established in 1992, the construction centre has been extended by 300 m² and to a height of 4.2 m in order to accommodate new machinery, which includes a Gemata roller coater and spray line fitted with both gas and infra-red drying facilities, as well as inline crosslinking and a foam generator. The new hall also contains a rotary press.
A colour room equipped with a spray booth and a light cabin has been installed as part of the work associated with the extension, although it is located within the original laboratory space.
