Strong growth for leathergoods

During the first seven months of this year, China’s leather sector recorded a growth of 9.05% in exports to $15.6 billion, from $14.3 billion in the corresponding period last year, according to official data from the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).

The breakdown showed that the country exported bags and other leathergoods worth $7.5 billion, up from just under $6 billion for the same period last year and showing growth of 26.2%. Exports of leather shoes increased in value by 1.1% to $ 5.6 billion from $5.5 billion a year ago.
