New drum technology

Tanning sector technology provider Olcina Group, is launching the latest development in its Cangilones tanning drums, calling the new option Cangilones Next. The new development represents the second generation of patented technology Cangilones drums. The new drums offer a range of extra features and can, the manufaturer says, provide tanners with savings.
The improvements include an increase in drum capacity, easier loading and unloading of loads of up to 24,000 kilos, simpler temperature control and greater automation in this area of the tannery. Olcina also says the tearing effect in the new drums is zero. It argues that a greater loading capacity combined with the possibility of improving the quality of hides and skins will provide tanners with a fast return on investment in the new technology.
At the same time, it says the energy saving (of up to 70%) and water saving (of up to 50%) that the Cangilones system already offered will be further enhanced by the new technology.
Olcina has also put together a new automation system for tanneries based on Wonderware software. The software can be customised for each facility, offering improved visualisation, better management of resources, and automated reporting into enterprise management software applications.
