Government to boost leather sector skills

The Pakistani government plans to upgrade a leather training institution and start of programme for developing skills in the leather sector.
A delegation of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA), led by its Chairman Mr S. M. Naseem, met Syed Mohibullah Shah, chief executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to discuss the problems and progress of leather industry.
Syed Mohibullah Shah said the government was planning to upgrade the National Institute of Leather Technology in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi by insalling modern machinery and other new equipment.
He said the government wanted to improve the infrastructure of the leather sector in Pakistan and boost the local industry’s share of the global market.
