National Beef Packing Company has announced the appointment of Robert Hein as senior vicepresident of its hides division. He will assume responsibility for National Beef’s hide program at all three of its processing plants, and undertake development of wet blue processing to deliver premium quality hides to the marketplace.
The company said Mr Hein brings 35 years of valued experience in the hide industry, and “industry-leading expertise” regarding wet blue hides. In his previous role, he was managing director of New Wave Leathers in Australia, the fourth largest wet bluing facility in the world.
Mr Hein is committed to building a wet blue business that National Beef says will give its hide customers the best cutting value out of finished leather. In addition, it said that supplying the correct type of hide for the customer’s leather production would be a huge benefit for tanners interested in buying wet blue hides. The copmany believes that this will position it as a leading supplier to the leather industry.
Kansas City-based National Beef is the fourth largest beef processor in the US.
