Leather innovator retires

BASF has announced the retirement of Retirement of Dr Tilman Taeger, who has been responsible until now for innovation at the company’s Leather Chemicals division.

Dr Taeger will step down from his position on September 30.

Thomas Sattler, responsible for the global business in leather  chemicals, paid tribute to Dr Taeger, saying he has been one of the most creative minds in the modern leather industry, and commending him for having “furthered the development  of innovative products for BASF with tireless commitment”.

Having  gained his doctorate in chemistry, Dr Taeger also represented BASF in  various associations and on various committees, including  TEGEWA,  VdL (the German leather industry association) and AIF  expert group V.  He was in great demand and highly respected worldwide as an expert on matters of leather production.

He is succeeded in the field of innovation and patents at BASF Leather Chemicals by Dr Volker Bach, who has been part of the business unit since 1998.
